Dare to Dream

  10

Shannon (one of our Monday night knitting group regulars) made this lively shawl out of Feza’s Alp Oriental yarn.  The shawl takes just one skein of yarn and the fringe comes pre-made with the skein.  How cool is that?  Shannon said that the pattern was super easy and quick to knit up.  I think it would be a perfect project for a last minute Mother’s Day gift!  Now…Which color collection to choose?  They’re all so amazing?

Liverpool

AmyButlerDress

This amazing shirt/dress/tunic caught my eye tonight when I walked into Knit Together (our Monday night knitting group).  One of Tangle’s new sewing instructors, who will begin teaching sewing classes at Tangle this summer, whipped it up using Amy Butler’s “Liverpool” pattern.  It would look great over a pair of jeans or with tights and boots.  So cool!  Sewing classes are new for Tangle and will surely fill up quickly.  I have had the Barcelona Skirt pattern since last summer, but am a bit intimidated to start it on my own (those darn linings!).  Lo and behold - There will be a Barcelona Skirt class in June.  Super!  Sign me up!

baby sweater - new yarn

 Charlie's sweater

I made this sweater for my friend Amy’s new baby, Charlie.  Amy teaches our beginning knitting classes at Tangle. We recently got in a new yarn, Hap’i from Mirasol.  I love this yarn! The colors are so bright and cheerful and all of them coordinate in such fun ways. As soon as I saw the blue, green and grey together, I knew what I would make for Amy.    It’s 100% thick/thin cotton and the gauge was perfect for the Knitting Pure and Simple baby pullover pattern (#214).

Whenever I make KPS patterns, I always lengthen the body and sleeves because the patterns tend to be written wide. I figure if I lengthen it, the baby can get more wear out of it. (My son wore his size 24 months sweater until he was 4 because it was long enough.)
