Summer Classes

We’re really excited about our new class schedule!

The Salvador cardigan might possibly be my favorite, but it’s hard to choose when we have a beautiful (and easy!) chevron lace scarf and some really, really cute sewing patterns.

Classes fill up fast, so sign up soon!

It’s a Guy Thing

 Turn-a-Square Hat1

There is something about knitting things for men.  A sweater is a huge commitment (and often an equally huge expense).  Many men refuse to wear scarves.  But a hat…Yes, a hat is something that will not only be appreciated, but more often than not, worn frequently.  I love knitting hats for men.  They aren’t as particular about whether the hat is itchy, or makes their hair flat after they take it off.  They appreciate that it keeps their noggins warm when they’re kindly scraping ice from their wives’ windshields (not that I would expect mine to do that, of course). This hat was so fun and easy to knit and turned out great.  The Noro Silk Garden is gorgeous and adds just enough color to make the hat a little funky.  The Cascade 220 is such a workhorse yarn….Warm, wonderful to knit with, tons of yardage.  You can easily make two hats with a skein of each.

pssst….Watch for this hat to be offered as a class on the next class schedule (Jan-March).

A Ribbon Runs Through It

A ribbon runs through it

This is one of our favorite, new, free patterns. This hat can be made for a baby, toddler, or for that matter, made larger for an adult.  We used Cascade’s Cotton Rich which is a fabulous cotton blend that we love for kids.  Ribbon embellishments are everywhere these days.   The wonderful part of this hat is that one can change the ribbon for every occasion.  Whimsical ribbons definitely make this a “hat for all seasons”.   Knit this pattern and include a yard of several different ribbons for a unique and special gift!
